Spencer Chen started his role in the IT Distribution industry at Rectron in June 1996 as a Technician. He then moved to Mustek, our holding company in 1997 to take on the role of Warehouse Manager.
During the last 18 years he has held various strategic managerial roles within the Group, most notably Operations Director at Zinox technologies in Nigeria for three years and Managing Director of Mecer in Brazil between 2005 and 2007.
In the latter part of 2007 he returned the South Africa to take on the post of Mecer Brand and Purchasing officer at Mustek Limited and it is in this role that his great understanding and ability for purchasing and negotiations grew. Spencer is an expert in foreign procurement and has very strong network in China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and the United States.
In October 2011 he took up the role of Products Director at Rectron. In this role Spencer overseas 18 product Managers and over 25 different product lines procured both locally and internationally.
Gerhard is a registered Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He passed both his board exams with the first attempt and after completing his articles at an audit firm in Centurion he joined Rectron in November 2006 as the Group Financial Manager.
He was quickly promoted to Financial Director in August 2008 and has been in this role ever since. Gerhard is recognised for being a results driven team leader with strong beliefs people development and enablement.
Martin Roets started his career at Rectron in 1998 where he was appointed as a Dispatch Clerk. He was quickly identified as having leadership potential and was promoted to Assembly supervisor in 1999.
Martin was then asked to look over our Customer Services division as a supervisor in 2002. It was in this role that Martin developed a very detailed understanding of the service industry from vendor to end customer. In 2004 as Rectron started to expand, Martin was given the huge task of becoming the Warehouse Manager, managing our then +/-50 staff. During this time, he has gained a wealth of business knowledge and a deeper understanding of the operational aspects of the business.
This paved the way for his next promotion as the Operations Director in 2010. In his current role, Martin is responsible for the operations management of all 5 branches. Martin has a great love for people and enjoys working with his team.
Alan Michas joined Rectron in 1997 as one of our first employees in the post of IT Manager. As Rectron was a small company with only 20 employees, Alan also doubled as the Products Manager and later as the Marketing Manager, a true multitasking master.
He is currently still heading up the IT department and through the years, has seen the company grow through different challenges and technology changes. Alan has also recently taken on the role of Regional Manager and is often seen in one of our branches, making sure all systems are working and all operational hurdles are ironed out and repaired.
Even though Alan has been at Rectron for most of his working life he is still very passionate about the company and all the staff. “It’s been great to be part of Rectron’s success and also to see how many staff members have grown to be successful within the organization.” Says Alan.
Alan studied a bit of Computer Science at Wits where he obtained a Diploma in FORTRAN IV Programming. Thereafter he started his career as a programmer at a computer bureau in the days of punched cards and paper tape. During this time he was exposed to many different clients and he developed applications for a broad range of industries. Around the time that microcomputers became available, in the late 70’s, he developed an accounting system for the medical profession and supplied hardware and software solutions to his clients in this profession. In addition to this, he developed a Property Valuation System which was widely used by many financial institutions as well as software for stock brokers and bankers to manage Options and Futures.
Alan is a very unique and innovative individual who is very enthusiastic about computing, technology and software development. He still believes that he will one day develop the perfect program, running on the perfect computer and that he will able to go off somewhere really nice to have a perfectly good time. Until that day he will keep on slogging away at what he does best. (Making sure our that all our Customers are Very Happy Customers)
Matthew Hall started with Rectron as a Sales Representative in March 2000 straight after his Matric year and has been with the company for over 14 years.
He grew in his sales role at Rectron to become a Sales Line Manager and in 2004 transferred to, what was then one of the Group Companies, Corex Distribution Dynamics, as the General Manager. In July 2011 Matthew returned to Rectron to take on the role of Acer Brand Manager.
In August 2012 he was promoted to National Sales manager, managing the sales process in 5 branches country wide. Matthew has a natural ability to communicate with people and is often seen as a mentor for his employees and peers alike. He is well liked by customers and is frequently used as a spokesperson for Rectron.
Elaine Wang currently holds the position of Group Microsoft Business Unit Manager for the Mustek Group.
Having achieved a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the University of Witwatersrand and a Master of Business Administration from the National Taipei University, Elaine is well qualified for this role.
In the past Elaine has managed both the printer and components product categories at Rectron which she did with tenacity and commitment. In her current role, Elaine demonstrates a passion for the transformative power of the cloud for SMEs and her focus is on educating the channel on the potential of cloud solutions. With a core strength in marketing, she is able to generate sales that continue to grow company revenue on a consistent and increasing basis.
Elaine has a reputation for being hard-working and dedicated and this has been recognised with her inclusion in the Rectron Leadership Team to which she is an invaluable addition. Furthermore she inspires and encourages her team to think creatively and find innovative ways to problem solve making. With her skill set, education and experience, Elaine is a great asset to the Mustek Group.
Sebastian has been with Rectron for a total of 15 years.
Starting his career in 1999 at our offices in Rectron Durban, he has developed within the company, from Support Technician to Group Technical Director (2004-2008) and eventually taking on the position as HR and Marketing Director (2008-2011) in Johannesburg.
He left the company in 2011, to pursue new business at Corex (PTY) Ltd, but re-joined a year later, in 2012 as Business Development Manager. Sebastian is and has always been passionate about Rectron, its customers, vendors, employees and technology.
Antonet Davids started with Rectron as a sales representative in August 1998 straight after her matric year and has been with the company for 15 years.
Antonet Davids started her career at Rectron as a sales representative in August 1998 straight after her matric year and has been with the company for 18 years.
She has worked in most positions within the company. She has built up experience in HR as the HR Manager, Product Management and Debtors to name a few and as such has a very good understanding of how the company works from the ground up. Her love for a new challenge has driven her to learn so much.
Antonet was appointed in a the new role of Channel Development Manager in August 2015 and is responsible for managing the growth and development of the reseller channel.
Julie is an independent advertising and marketing consultant with over 2 Decades of experience. Working on Brand and Agency Start-ups. Developing and working on corporate identity, Brand Re Launching and Re Branding and packaging.
Julie offers 23 years of strategic communication, advertising and Marketing experience, with Major blue Chip corporations in Finance, Motor Industry, Cellular Networks and Handset manufacturing and retail. Julie has worked with local markets, Emerging Markets across Africa and Global Markets.
She is a strong, confident, practiced communicator and presenter, always willing to listen and encourage involvement. Always pushing the envelope and challenging conventional thinking by strategically altering the perspective in order to discover effective solutions. She joined Rectron to head up the National Marketing side of the business just over 10 months ago. She is also part of the Senior Management Leadership Team.
Kim started her career in 2003 as a call Centre Manager, for 3 years, where she managed and Assisted end user customers with Software and hardware repairs.
She then moved to Retail Sales and merchandising for the next 3 years. In 2008 she started working at Rectron as a sales assistant in the Retail department. One year later she moved up to Product Management for 3 year.
For the past 3 years I have been in the Marketing department where She has been responsible for all Rectron events, including the Rectron Roadshows, Golf Days and Product Launch events. She runs the team who are responsible for all communication going out to the Rectron Dealer base as well as to all Rectron staff. Kim is also a part of the Leadership Team.
Adrian (AJ) started working for Rectron in 2006 as a dispatch clerk, he worked and gained experience in various departments throughout operations and systematically moved up the ranks to his current position.
He has been leading the innovative warehouse and staff effectively since 2010. He is currently studying a B.Com - Industrial Psychology, which is well utilized when leading and motivating the workforce to ensure the results that set Rectron apart from competitors.

My journey started off in the Mustek Group in 2005 where I worked in service and sales. I had proceeded to join the Rectron family in 2012 as a Retail Business manager.
As an Individual who possesses the ability to grow independently in most environments I find myself embedded in that of the ICT world as it is ever changing and an exhilarating part of the evolving technological development that is shaping our future.
Being in a leadership role has given me the insight and abilities to be able to manage more strategic relationships in business and in life. It has taught me that success is pursued through, sacrifice, a thirst for knowledge, hard work and most of all, love for what you do. With that new ventures are discovered and exciting opportunities of growth come.
Avina’s career at Rectron commenced in 2012 as an HR specialist and since August 2015 , have been promoted to HR Manager. Together with her highly capable team, she manages the HR & Training portfolio across all five Rectron branches.
Prior to this Avina secured senior roles as an HR Business Partner and HR Generalist at large corporations providing support, developing and implementing HR solutions and delivering people management strategies. An outcome-oriented person with 9 years professional HR management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage the demands of recruitment, talent management, training and development, IR/Employee relations, compensations & benefits, payroll, policy & procedure implementation, Labour and compliance issues, EE Management & Transformation.
Avinas qualifications and professional development have contributed to her proficiency in managing these diverse responsibilities, but she believes that it is her interpersonal skills, and open-door policy that have driven success in fostering strong long-term workplace processes and relationships. In addition she is actively involved in various community work, and participate in Bollywood dancing. Aviana’s involvement and initiative in various projects reflects her excellent rapport and interaction developed with people.
Frans joined the Rectron family in 2006 as a sales consultant and progressed through various positions within the sales environment including being a team leader and a Product Manager.
He was officially appointed as head of sales, of our dynamic sales team, in the JHB Branch in 2011.
Frans is currently studying his B.Com, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, which he believes will further empower his team and allow him to build on the customer experience our valued partners have become accustomed to.
Ian Theunissen, a local Capetonian, studied marine electrical, radio telecommunications and radar at the Cape Technikon, which is now called CPUT, and was subsequently employed by Safmarine until the late 1980s.
Ian owned and managed his own Consumer electronics and marine repair business for ten years before he was offered a position at Rectron as technician in 1998. He was promoted to become operations manager in 2004 and through this role grew his love and passion for managing people.
October 2010 he was prompted to Branch Manager of the Cape Town Branch and as such manages the Western Cape region. In his role as Branch Manager Ian looks after a staff compliment of 50 and manages an annual turnover of R 220m.
Liezl Beneke started working for Rectron as a Receptionist in April 2002 when the Bloemfontein Branch opened its doors for business. Through her determination and willingness to learn, she progressed quickly through the ranks and in March 2003 she took on a new role as a Warehouse Administrator.
It was in this role where she gained more knowledge on the various products that Rectron sells. In October 2003 Liezl was again promoted to Accounts Clerk and in the latter part of 2006, she took on her first sales role as an Account Manager in the Bloemfontein Branch.
Here Liezl worked closely with an assigned dealer base and built strong relationships with our customers, winning numerous awards within this role. In 2009 she got promoted to Operations Manager. Liezl believes that its important to perform consistently and deliver exceptional value to our customers with the highest level of quality.
With the knowledge and experience gained in all departments within Rectron she was promoted to become the Branch Manager for Rectron Bloemfontein in 2011. In this role Liezl manages a staff compliment of 16 and manages an annual turnover of R72m. Liezl has a certificate in Information Technology from the Central University of Technology in the Free State.
Hanno Lochner started working for Rectron Port Elizabeth in December 2003 as an IT Technician. His great understanding and passion for technology paved the way for a quick promotion to Technical Manager in 2004.
Hanno was in this role for two years before he was promoted to Operations Manager of the PE Branch in 2006. His ability to understand the different divisions within the company and his knowledge of the IT channel in Eastern Cape region spurred a further promotion to Branch Manager of the PE Branch in 2008.
In this role Hanno Manages a staff compliment of 11 and manages an an annual turnover of R x. (state FY14 numbers). Hanno has a Diploma in Computer Science from CTI.
Ahmed Ahmed started his career in 1992 as a Technician for an IT distributor in Cape Town, Compucomp. He was then offered a role at Rectron as a Technician in 2003.
In 2009 he was promoted to Service Centre Manager and was again promoted to Operations Manager of the CPT branch in 2011. During his 12-year tenure at Rectron he has become a specialist in operations with his main goal being to make sure that our customers’ expectations are met.
As Operations Manager he currently oversees the Service Centre, Warehouse, Deliveries and Fleet departments. Ahmed has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a BTech Degree Business Administration from UNISA and he is currently completing the Managing for Results course at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS)
Coenraad Botha started his career in 2001 as a driver for a courier company in Bloemfontein, RTT couriers. He was then offered a role at Rectron as a driver in 2003.
In 2004 he was promoted to stores clerk and was again promoted to warehouse administrator for the branch in 2005, he was promoted again in 2014 to Operations manager. During his 12 year tenure at Rectron he has become a specialist in operations.
Coenraad is a real people’s person and has a passion for customers. As operations Manager he currently oversees the Service Centre, Warehouse, Deliveries and Fleet departments. He also help out in other departments, mainly sales and accounts.
Coenraad Botha is currently completing the Managing for Results course at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS)
